First Hammer
Spent part of Sunday out at the Dining Car with a small crew. Started to carefully remove some of the interior veneer in the area that suffered the most damage from the leaking roof over the years. For the past ten years the car has been kept dry. The area exposed today showed very little rot/deterioration. This was quite a surprise! The roof system is a different story. The roof has suffered from years of neglect and will more than likely need to be replaced entirely. The dining car still needs some adjustments made to make it level prior to removal of any exterior sections. One of the biggest challenges will be keeping moisture out of the car. We keep a fan in the car to circulate the air and have a heater and dehumidifier as well to keep mold from taking hold.
